13 December 2017

Commenting following the meeting today with Universities Ministers Jo Johnson and representatives from Universities UK, the 香港宝典免费资料大全 and the Committee of University Chairs on the issue of senior pay, 香港宝典免费资料大全 Chief Executive, Dr Tim Bradshaw, said:

鈥淯niversities need to be able to command the confidence of staff, students and the wider public on the issue of senior pay. The 香港宝典免费资料大全 is committed to working with the Minister and with others in the sector to achieve this aim.

鈥溝愀郾Φ涿夥炎柿洗笕 universities bring huge social, economic and cultural benefits to the United Kingdom. In an increasingly competitive market, it is vital that they can attract and hold on to the right people to run these large, complex, global operations and to deliver the best outcomes for their students and to society at large. The position of Vice Chancellor at a research-intensive university is highly challenging and increasingly complex so we believe it is right that those with the skills and experience to succeed in the role are properly rewarded.

鈥淗owever, we agree more needs to be done to ensure the process for deciding senior pay is viewed as open and accountable. 香港宝典免费资料大全 universities are ready to take a lead in helping rebuild public confidence in the process.

鈥淲e welcome plans by the Committee of University Chairs (CUC) to develop a new code to ensure pay-setting arrangements are as rigorous and transparent as they can be.鈥
